New York

Jordon and I are planning a trip to New York over Christmas break. I was wondering if any of you blogging buddies know where to go, what to see, what to do while in NY. We are going to be there for New Years and Jordons family (adults only) are going with us. If you have any ideas or must sees in NY, please leave a comment. Thanks everybody!

I went to FAO Schwartz (spelling?) toy store (really big), Niagra Falls, if you can go to Hill Camora (spelling?)go to the pageant, Empire State Building, of course The Twin Towers memorial, I didn't make it to the Statue of Liberty but go there, any shopping will be awesome, I heard of this great candy store called Dylans and it looks amazing! Go to A Regis and Kelly Live show, We didn't go see any broadway shows because of time, but I know they are great... other than that I have no idea - too bad Oprah doesn't tape in New York, that would be fun to see her! Enjoy

Jordon would love Beauty and the Beast on Broadway!

A great lunch spot is Carnegie Deli...best pastrami sandwiches and cheesecake! The World Trade Center Memorial, the ferry to statue of liberty and Ellis Island. Empire state bldg. is cool, but it costs $ to ride to the top (can't remember how much). If you do see a broadway show and don't have tickets ahead of time, go to the TKTS booth on Broadway for same day shows at discounts. Lots of TV shows tape there, try to get tickets ahead of time. Times Square has the MTV studio (you could be on TRL! Ha! Ha!) The sunset cruises are pretty fun. Central Park is very pretty (haven't seen it in winter though). Chinatown smells really bad. Maybe I will be able to think of more later. I've been there 3 times, and done all the different touristy things. There's tons to do! You guys will have a blast, especially at New Years without kids!

Sounds like you have quite the advice...it's all good. I would for SURE see some broadways...and buying them the same day at the booth is about 50% cheaper. (You risk not having any tickets left though) Also, they only take cash for some reason. All of the other touristy stuff is good too. I would try to get tickets to Letterman....call ahead, before you go. And, you have to eat at the famous RAYS pizza! Yum! We went there for New years a couple of years ago....WARNING! Do not go to time square unless you are planning on being there all night! They herd you in like cattle and close gates so you can't go anywhere until the show is over. And, if you want to go upclose, you have to get there 7 hours early which means waiting in a crammed corral! Not fun....plus there aren't any bathrooms (restaurants close them that night) and the cops won't let you out of the corral anyway! Good Luck! i would watch from afar.

If you're in the area my best friend from high school opened a Vietnamese restaurant in Brooklyn. It's called Silent H. I don't know if you like Vietnamese food - actually I don't know if I like Vietnamese food.

Katie,
I don't know if you knew this but my inlaws just moved back from New York just a few months ago. They have been living in Manhattan helping with United Families. I will ask them for some ideas for you.
